Silent Mirror Privacy Policy

Applies to: Silent Mirror

1. How we handle your data

Silent Mirror follows an offline-first and local-first design. Your main content—journal text, tarot logs, voice transcription results, and photos you add—is stored on your device by default (e.g. local database and files) for display, search, and on-device intelligence.

We do not offer public posting, social feeds, or user-to-user messaging in the app. Your content is not automatically published by us.

Optional iCloud backup: You may turn on “iCloud backup/sync” in Settings. When enabled, the app may write authorized backup data to iCloud storage associated with your Apple account (provided by Apple, for backup, restore, or syncing backup files across devices; subject to system and Apple service status). You can turn it off anytime; new data you create will follow your actions on device, but whether older backups already in iCloud are removed depends on your account and system management.

2. Data we may process (depending on the features you use)

2.1 On-device content

  • Journal & reflection content: text you enter and related metadata (for display, search, and on-device analysis).
  • Audio: only created when you record (for transcription and journaling).
  • Photos: only added when you choose them (for display and backups).

2.2 In-app purchases

The app offers auto-renewing subscriptions and consumable purchases (e.g. usage packs). Payments, receipts, and subscription management are handled by Apple’s App Store. The app reads purchase results on-device to unlock features or credits locally. We will not ask you to provide card or payment details outside the App Store to pay us directly.

2.3 Optional features

  • Biometrics (Face ID / Touch ID): If you enable app lock, the system verifies identity locally using device biometrics; templates are managed by the system and are not uploaded to us.
  • Local notifications: If you enable daily introspection or similar reminders, the app schedules local notifications; you can manage notification permission and style in system Settings.
  • Share & export: If you use system share, export, or screenshots, content is sent only where you explicitly choose.

3. Data transfers and third parties

Developer-operated servers: This version does not centrally store your journal body or voice on servers we control for “cloud analysis.” On-device large-model inference runs on your device (subject to the model being downloaded and ready).

Apple ecosystem: To complete purchases, optional iCloud backup, and system services, data may transit paths governed by Apple’s services and terms; such processing is subject to Apple’s privacy policy and terms.

To open the Privacy Policy, Terms, or similar pages, the app may use the system browser and networking (e.g. HTTPS/TLS). Actual behavior depends on the pages you visit and your environment.

Ads & analytics: This version does not integrate third-party advertising SDKs or third-party analytics SDKs used for tracking. If we introduce new collection or services (e.g. additional third parties beyond optional iCloud, crash statistics), we will update this policy and disclose it in App Store “App Privacy” and app information.

4. Permissions

  • Microphone: recording and transcription (optional if you don’t record).
  • Photos: selecting photos for entries (optional if you don’t add photos).
  • Face ID / Touch ID: app unlock when app lock is enabled; verified locally by the system.
  • Notifications: daily introspection and similar local reminders (only if you enable reminders and grant notification permission).

5. Deleting data

You can remove on-device app data by uninstalling the app or using in-app cache clearing, data destruction, or backup tools if provided—follow the in-app UI and prompts.

If you used iCloud backup, historical backup files may still exist in the cloud; you can turn off in-app sync, manage iCloud storage, or use system tools to handle cloud copies.
